Welcome!!

This is my first attempt at putting to paper, or putting to http:, thoughts that I feel strongly enough to want to share them with the rest of the information age world. It's particularly hard for me to keep my thoughts organized, as there are so many things to write about.

"May you live in interesting times" is an often cited Chinese proverb. It is actually the first of three proverbs, or, curses as some have referred to them. The other two read:

"May you come to the attention of those in authority"
"May you find what you are looking for"

Without authority we all suffer. Watch what's happeneing in Haiti now as the supply of aid is not sufficient to fill the overwhelming needs of those there. As what would happen in ANY part of the world under the same conditions, the grief stricken population is beginning to take arms against those distributing aid.

I'll leave the third curse alone for now. Everyday offers a many chances for each of us to do just that. To pursue that which provides utility and adds meaning.

By starting this blog I really hope to shed light on the world's problems. I hope to find my voice and I hope to delight those who will read with commentary about my life and our world. To that end I hope this union be a joyous and long lasting one.
